CONEY ISLAND OCTOBER LIGHT
The photographs in this series were taken on Oct. 9-10, 2006. Amazingly, a visit to Coney Island had eluded
me for the many years - 23, up until then - that I've lived in New York City. Well, it was worth the wait.
Those two days provided a spectacular Indian Summer glow - a serene and cinematic vision to a part of New
York that many, I believe, do not think of initially. Many of us are accustomed to thinking of the "urban jungle" of skyscrapers,
or typical residential neighborhoods scattered throughout the City. The seaside quality of Coney Island is at once ethereal
and timeless.
My next visits will be much sooner, than later!

SOVIET SNAPS - IN THE USSR: 1977-81
Soviet Snaps, the first exhibition on the website, represents my earliest work as a photographer. It's a selection of pictures taken during
several visits to the former Soviet Union before its eventual collapse in 1991.
While some of the photos suggest the nation's
communist, socialist past, the rest convey a non-political view. The photographs, herein, are meant to give the viewer a "snap
shot" look back to this period and to hopefully encourage you to learn more about this land.
I want to thank Michael for his advice and encouragement on
this project.
This exhibit is dedicated to my father & mother, Iwan & Angelika,
and to my grandmother, Elisabeth, and my sister, Angie.
